    • ]]>     A high school student recently wrote Apple CEO Steve Jobs an email asking for a discounted version of Final Cut Studio 2. Instead of giving the kid the discount, Jobs forwarded the email onto a colleague and sent a free copy of the video editing software the kid’s way.

    The student is a long-time Gizmodo reader who told them the story today.

    Surely a high school student who can afford an eight-core Mac Pro isn’t exactly hurting for cash, but it’s a nice story either way. Don’t let this fool you into thinking Apple is a company of sunshine and fluffy bunny rabbits though, Apple knew it’d make the rounds.

    • ]]>     This Morning’s iPhone 3G Launch Line Was Our Family Away from Home.

    We joined our wonderful 3G Launch Line at around 3:30am this morning. Luckily, we were in a location that had a fairly large Apple Store right around the corner, so we had two lines within a stone’s throw from each other. Our line was definitely the best! We were hanging out, taking pictures, talking about our shiny toys, and in the process we managed to snap up quite a bit of good shots!

    By the way: We picked up 4 iPhones, two white 16GB’s and two black 16GB’s. Only one of them has been successfully (and accidentally) activated by leaving it plugged in for a long, long time.

    Updates: All 4 iPhones are working great and have been synced and updated. Mobile Me, on the other hand, that’s a different story. Contrary to reports, Mobile Me is still very, very unstable.
