Apple today has changed the homepage of their website (apple.com) to reveal that users have downloaded nearly half a billion apps. This shows a semi-strong acceleration in the app store’s download rate since previous numbers were reported.
Back in December, Apple reported that they had passed the 10,000 application mark, and 300 million downloads. As you can gauge from the timeframe of the announcements, it took 4 months for Apple to hit 300 million downloaded apps, and nearly 3 more months for another 200 million. While the holidays surely had a part in boosting this number, there’s no denying these numbers are staggering within themselves.
