iLife ‘09 Set to Ship On Tuesday, January 20th?

While browsing around the web, Peter Yan over at Meoeo stumbled across a release date for Apple’s new iLife ‘09. While Apple had mentioned the new software would be shipping at the end of January, a specific date had not yet been set.

preThe images and video show that Apple had set a shipping date for Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 on the iLife ‘09 checkout page of their store. However, as you can see by visiting this page yourself, the shipping date has been changed back to simply say January.

“I was browsing the Apple online store and just out of curiosity I clicked “upgrade iLife” and this is what I saw: Ships Jan 20!” Yan explains.

Apple’s other new suite of applications, iWork ‘09, currently ships within 24 hours from the online Apple Store.

The January 20th date makes sense. It’s a Tuesday, the end of January, and Apple promised us iLife ‘09 around that time. There is a slight chance we may see it on the following Tuesday, January 27th, however the photo and video above point to the 20th.

According to the receipt Apple sent me by e-mail and to other users at the Apple Forum, iLife 09 will only be shipped in February. My order confirmation e-mail, says that I should receive the order by 6th February 2009! :(

I just pre-ordered it as well. My receipt says:

Ships: Feb 2
Delivers: Feb 6

Little disappointing…

That’s a little disappointing, but not surprising I must say.

My order confirmation says January 30th, perhaps it has to do with when the orders were placed?

Waiting for the release to pick up a new Macbook at the Apple Store. I wonder how long it will take them to have Macbooks with iLife or if they put a product key in the box or what??

the very same day that iLife 09 is available for order online you will have MBs with iLife 09 preinstalled in-store. iLife is ready it’s just not ready for simultaneous release everywhere. Also there is no reason to wait since you get it for free with any Macbook purchased after Jan 06, 09 even if it didn’t come preinstalled. Waiting just to get everything in one box is nuts imo.

Amazon shows a ship date of Feb 20, 2009. :(

This is obviously a fake– zoom in on the date and it is a blatantly photoshoped picture (the discolored white areas around the “January 20″). What a retard.

Why would you buy this from Amazon when you can get it straight from Apple for the same price? I’d rather let Apple make the profit than a third party.

Obviously not, since it’s the 20th now, and it’s still showing a ’ships in January’ label! Guess we’ll have to wait even longer!

I got a new macbook on 1/10/2009… it came with ilife 08, even though on their website it had said that that ilife 09 comes preinstalled in all new macs.
Do I have a claim to ilife 09?

Colin, yes, you do have a claim to iLife ‘09. Bad news is that it’ll cost ya! Not much tho.

Hope this helps.
