iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has made us aware of a video he just posted showcasing the iPhone 3G unlocking process. The Dev Team is planning on releasing the unlock on New Year’s Eve.
Codenamed “yellowsn0w,” the iPhone Dev Team has been working extremely hard making this available for the general public. “This is now completed and is currently being packaged into a user-friendly application with the simplicity that you see in QuickPwn or BootNeuter,” they explain. Currently, they are planning for a release date of December 31st, 2008, New Year’s Eve.
If you’re hoping for the Dev Team to provide an iPod touch 2G unlock, you’re out of luck. They explain “Currently we are not investigating the iPod touch 2G. Other people outside the Dev-Team are looking into this, but we are not at the moment. Please don’t hassle us with comments and requests about this, they’ll just be deleted and ignored. If we do look at this device it will be sometime in the New Year and we’ll inform you guys if and when we commence this work.”
