Engadget has received an internal memo detailing Walmart’s upcoming plans with the iPhone. The memo confirms our thoughts that Walmart will not be selling a $99 4GB iPhone.
As you can see in the memo, although it’s a tad blurry (aren’t they always), there is no mention of a $99 iPhone anywhere. The rumor that quickly erupted into a snowball of inaccuracy, even gaining traction in mainstream media, has simply been wrong.

We had solid doubts since we first heard the 4GB $99 iPhone rumor, and so did other well established sources. What the memo does confirm is that Walmart will definitely be carrying the iPhone. The 8GB version will be sold for $197, and the 16GB version will run $297. This is completely in line with Walmart’s usual price rollbacks.
