Apple’s latest iPhone Software Update is causing rather serious issues for some users. Reports of people being unable to delete email and unable to delete email are among some of the problems.
iPhoneAtlas lists some of the major issues. They are summed up below.
Third Party Applications Breaking: Due to API changes, some third party applications are not functioning correctly, specifically apps that use CoreAudio. The apps will most likely need to be updated by their developers.
Could not Connect to Internet: Some iPhone owners are unable to connect to the internet over EDGE or 3G cellular networks. Often times, manually switching between 3G and EDGE will resolve the issue.
SIM Card Absent or PIN Lock: Some users are expereinceing issues with their SIM card not being recognized. The iPhone will give an error message indicating that no SIM card is inserted, or that a PIN lock is in place when it has not been set. (Here is a support note)
Kilometers Instead of Miles: Google Maps is displaying kilometers instead of miles for various countries. Selecting ‘USA’ in International Settings will resolve the issue, though this may set off other problems for users outside of the USA. Additional reports of users not being able to use Google Street View have come in as well. If Street View doesn’t appear on the desktop version of Google Maps, it won’t show up on your iPhone.
Problems Deleting Email: Specifically AOL users are having trouble deleting email from their accounts. “This problem can generally be resolved by navigating Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (Your account name) > Advanced > Deleted Mailbox, then setting for the “On My iPhone” Trash for a POP account, or “On the Server” for an IMAP account.”
Slow App Store: This may be a server side issue that Apple is working to resolve. However some users are reporting an extremely slow experience while browsing or trying to use the App Store.
If you’re facing problems, before calling support, always try backing up your phone, restoring the device and updating the firmware version to the latest release. This is assuming you don’t jailbreak your iPhone in which case the official Apple updates don’t immediately apply to your setup.

I like knowing I’m not the only one going through this. I didn’t want to complain and make a racket if I was the only experiencing some of the issues.

I personally am not inspired by the 2.2 update and now you mention the problems I am steering well clear. I dont need street view as it wont work in New Zealand and I live in a small town anyway. I cant see anything else there compelling at all. I’d just like a bit more speed. 2.1 slows down without a reboot in 1 days use and they need copy and paste and a few updates like forward a txt to someone would be good too before i would upgrade. I feel Apple has lost the plot on what is really needed.

I upgrade to 2.2 and now my iPhone is a lot faster and stable, this the important part of the upgrade not the new maps app . I strongly recommend the upgrade.
