An anonymous commenter has posted a comment claiming to have information regarding Apple’s upcoming Black Friday deals. While MacBlogz doesn’t endorse the information or claim it to be from a credible source, we decided to share none-the-less.
While the information is similar to that of previous years, mention of Apple’s still unreleased in-ear headphones is absent (I’d like to see if there’s a deal there). Further investigation points the IP address at California, however the credibility of the source is a bit tarnished by the location which happens to be a Community College District. A few checks with Apple retail and we were able to confirm that they don’t even have this information yet. So, this being a retail employee is relatively unlikely.
anonymous comment: so for everyone, that have immersed themselves recently about a red iphone will be disappointed once black friday comes along. the rumors about a 32GB iphone are correct and will be featured late december early january. there has been talk about a red iphone, but was quickly ended, yet still led to a stir amongst the online community.
Black Friday deals that will exist are:
Apple Bluetooth headset with a sales price of $108 ($21 savings)
20 inch and 24 inch iMacs at $1,799 ($101 savings)
31 rebate on all iPod Classic and free engraving.
there will be more available, and for all offers check the apple store site exactly at midnight on the 28th. between 11pm and 12am the apple store will be extremely slow and sluggish, because of changes to the site occuring as we try to upload all the pages.
hope this was helpful for the masses.
Once again, an anonymous tipster claims the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone is not going to happen, while agreeing with the 32GB iPhone being released in the next few months.
For further clarification, we do not endorse this new information, nor do we claim this as a legitimate source. This is simply an anonymous comment that was left on MacBlogz and we thought it best to share the allegedly leaked information.

Well, the headphones thing is kinda ridiculous. It makes sense, but that’s a sizable discount. If it’s true, I’ll definitely wait for that.

ok, we get it. it’s not your source. saying it once is enough ya know

Understood. Just making sure.

Why then would he go to such lengths to fabricate this information (i’m speaking about the anonymous commenter)? why go to such great lengths to just make this up?
Reply
i don’t know if this is made up. this could totally be real, valid information

well, if it is true. then I’m definitely waiting on the headphones. v-moda upped their price by like $20, so I’ll wait for these for sure.

Can I just ask why this would even be a surprise? $20 off a pair of headphones? who cares? this info is totally consistent with the buyers guid/black friday. the mac sales are the same. i can’t wait to see what happens with the iphone.

Wait..bluetooth or in-ear headphones? i don’t think the in-ear headphones would see a deal would they?
Reply
@J3: the commenter was talking about the bluetooth headphones.

oops. I mean, bluetooth headsets, not heaphones

Why are apple products NEVER on sale? I was just talking about this. It’s like they are never EVER, EVER on sale… and then when they are, they get $100 off on computers? and then a lousy $20 off of bluetooths? come on.

they don’t need to put them “on sale” — people will buy them at full price.

Even when these rumour websites claim to have legitimate sources that would be well-placed to know something, they turn out to wrong (remember the rumours about iMac refreshes in November?).
So I wouldn’t pay much attention to anonymous comments like this.

The November iMac rumors were not from our sources
— But the sources we’ve been hearing things from over the past 5 months have been incredibly accurate.

I don’t buy it. not for a minute. community college? sounds like a bored kid to me. just the same deals as last year.

okay folks, first off a community college COULD be valid. it could be a retail employee that is a student and isn’t crazy enough to risk getting fired by sending it from work where they are likely watching the computers.
HOWEVER, I can tell you that at least part of the info is totally bogus. The Apple Bluetooth Headset retails for $99 so selling it at $108 would be a price up, not down.

Nevertheless, the article makes for interesting discussions on the whole anonymity issue of online teaching and learning, and I’m looking forward to hearing my students’ responses to this.
