Thanks for the credit.

Sorry, gonna nitpick again. The dock connector debuted in late April 2003, so really it has only been around for just over 5 1/2 years, not 7. ;-)

Here's a link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 -- scroll down and it will explain the difference between ports, first, second and third generation.

"iPod (dock connector models are referred to as third generation iPod models."

No, the 30-pin dock connector was not introduced until the 3rd-generation iPod.

Acutally dude, it's not. The one side was firewire, the 30-pin connector has been the same for a LONG time.

"Apple has used the same 30-pin dock connector since the first iPod in 2001."

Um, that's so wrong! The original iPod only came with a FireWire connection.

I just wish apple would pick a freaking standard for monitor output jacks. There's one for the flat panel iMac, one for the ibook, one for the powerbook, one for the new macbook... it is pretty infuriating. Just pick a small connector and quit updating it every freakin year.

Oh, and bring back firewire!

I doubt it Allen. If anything, there will be a slew of dongles available. Apple wouldn't make a move like this without preparing first.
