Finally, there is an iPhone application that might end up SAVING money for people. Named Njection Mobile, the new application utilizes the device’s 3G and GPS capabilities to alert drivers of upcoming traffic speed traps, red light cameras, and speed detection devices.
As Cult of Mac points out, the new application employs a native Microsoft Virtual Earth Web Service (VEWS) implementation, leveraging the mobile tile set to speed up map displays, and provides what promoters call “one of the best mapping experiences on the iPhone.” Njection Mobile can be downloaded via the iTunes store (link) for $9.99 and includes the following features:
• Speech notification of Speed Traps based on your current moving direction and distance to closest point.
• Microsoft Virtual Earth display of Speed Traps.
• Live Updates of speed traps updated from the website or other iPhone users.
• Support for Landscape and Portrait mode.
• Speed Trap Ranking based on level of enforcement and time of day area is monitored.
• 3G and 2.5G* Compatible. (2.5 users are not as accurate to their current location but still can use the service)
• Submit Speed traps from the iPhone or on the website.
• Rate Speed traps from the iPhone or on the website.
• Many more features still in the works.
So if you are feeling a little risky and are willing to rely on iPhone software to spare you a pricey speeding ticket, even though you can’t yet rely on its service, this application is for you!

Second, because it just seems like one of the concepts that is used for a reason or something that Apple wouldn’t like.

Well, we can all agree that for (most) developers, developing an application for the iPhone/iPod touch platform and hoping that it gets approved by Apple, is pretty much a gamble. As it just so happens, this app was approved. And it’s for sale as we speak.
I still think Apple needs established documentation clearly defining guidelines which developers can go by. This way developers will know what is allowed and what is not allowed before dumping resources into development.

So, do I need to have the phone plugged into a speaker, or my speaker system? Do I need to have the device sitting up by my dashboard? How would it notice these things if it was in my pocket?

Copycat of Trapster which is already on App Store (FREE!) with 100K iPhone users, has way more and better data, (plus supports lots of mobile devices and established for years)

Njection is great (well worth the money), i tried trapster but it blows, only showed me the locations of police stations not traps how useless, no wonder its free

Yeah I tried Trapster and now wish I’d paid for NJection. I just found out Trapster sell all the personal details they collect to third parties. Now I’m probably going to get my inbox spammed to heck.
Rather pay a small price for NJection than use the “free” app Trapster and be spammed.
