Great article. AT&T is not Apple. They have been good at clumping themselves together with them though. Throw the AT&T logo at the end of every iPhone commercial and you're sure to have some people confused.

I don' think it's hate Dr J. It's more like, here we are this Apple community... then Steve invents the iPhone, spends two years on it, creates the best mobile user experience ever, and then AT&T comes along and gets so involved, that they're nickel and diming us to no end. it's awful. and it's not what Apple is known for. just a shame is what it is.

Why all the hate? I'm a long time customer of AT&T and never had any issues. Yes, they charge more but guess what, you get what you pay for, better service, less/no dropped calls, etc. Don't believe me? Switch to Sprint. I live in KC where the world headquarters for Sprint is located and had more drop calls than with any other carrier. I totally agree that the AT&T's stand on tethering is bogus and takes advantage of customers. Here's my solution jailbreak your iPhone, install PdaNet and you got tethering for 'free'. Just my $.02.

ATT is a terrible company to both work for and do business with. The truth is that if ATT could move every job out of them US they would. They play a shell game with jobs and recently said they were brining more then 5000 jobs back to the US; however they are low paying help desk jobs at the most 13 per hour. When they take all the 70-100k a year jobs and ship them to India, China and the Philippines.
They also IN SOURCE in this country and would rather give contractor jobs to foreigners who have student Visas or H1B visas so they work in the US call centers instead of qualified people that live here. They do this to groom the customers with bad customer service and poor English so when they do OUT SOURCE over seas to India, China and the Philippines the customers would not be able to tell the difference.

From January 2007 until Jun 2007 I followed and tracked the iPhone LIKE A HAWK. Everyday I would call everywhere to see if any new information had been leaked or anything from anyone. The whole time I was PRAYING EVERY NIGHT that ATT would magically dissappear (Then cingular) -- simply because I knew how awful their network was...

hate to say it, to myself at least: but... i told me so
