glossy for pro's using photoshop is a no no, is the worst thing happening...
simply u can't retouch...
light reflects, shadows, even your own face reflected by the screen luminicence and finger prints is unacceptable for this king of work, because this could make u retouch things that does no exist in the image... losing your time.

Just yesterday (Halloween) I called around to a few local Apple stores in the L.A. area hoping to buy a 17" MBP with a matte screen. After calling 3 stores, it was the Glendale Galleria store that said none of the stores would be getting any further shipments of the matte screen version and that it would only be available online. This certainly seems consistent with Apple's complete move to glossy and maybe is in attempt to reduce the output of matte screens in order conserve matte screens to support warranties of existing matte screen owners.

It is vital for the vast population of Apple users to realise that this is a total spin job by Steve Jobs.

When Jobsie says the majority want glossy, technically that means more than 50%.

But do the research for yourself. Search google for "matte glossy poll". You'll find dozens of polls.

Here are some poll results of people who want matte:

45%
48%
68%
50%
54%
72%

That's an average of 56% who want matte. That correlates with what the local Apple store told me, that it is roughly 50-50 for people who want matte vs glossy MacBook Pro's.

So, when Steve says the majority want gloss, it was probably around 51% who wanted glossy. So that was enough for Jobs to shaft the rest of us, like he's shafting the Firewire users.

So, we're going to take this lying down.

Mark these words. This is the beginning of a new monster, a monopolist of the like of the worst of Microsoft, who can't care less about their customers, because there is no competition.

Folks, we are feeding a monster, a new monopoly. No competition for OSX hardware. Apple can do what it likes, and shaft you. No amount of cries will cause them to change, unless they start to lose money.

_______________

SOME POLL RESULTS:

What are your feelings on the glossy-only screen in the new MacBook Pro (and MacBook)?

Love it, already ordered one! 5.73%
Looks sharp, planning on buying 15.92%
Looks good, but no plans to purchase 16.97%
Need to see it in person before judging 14.75%
Dislike glossy screen, but will buy anyway 15.06%
Hate glossy screens, will not buy because of it 29.41%
Other? 2.15%

I understand that everyone is sick of hearing these complaints. I think this is more about how there's clearly a lot of them left, and Apple COULD sell them if they wanted to/felt it right. I get that there's a film to dim the gloss on these new screens, but that's like buying an iPhone 3G and keeping 3G off all the time. Who wants to do that?

I'm not sure they have a warehouse full of these, but I do know that if your current matte display faults, and its under warranty, Apple has enough supply of the matte displays to replace it.
