I bought a new laptop and moved all my music from the hard drive of my old laptop to a 16 GB thumbdrive. I downloaded iTunes from the web onto my new laptop and I thought I had imported all the music from the thumbdrive to my new laptop but I guess it just was reading and playing the music from the thumbdrive. So when I removed the thumbdrive, iTunes couldn't find any of my music. *sigh*

So I imported the folder to my hard drive on my new laptop and made sure I clicked the "copy files to library" option in the Advanced tab. Prior to all this I had finally recreated all my Playlists so they are, I'm assuming, saved still on the thumbdrive. (Not sure how that whole process works.) So now that I have imported all the music to the laptop hard drive, my library is showing a double of every song. One is linked to the thumbdrive and won't play unless the thumbdrive is plugged in, the other linked to the laptop hard drive. All the playlist music is associated with the thumbdrive so it won't play unless I go back and associate each individual song with the music on the hard drive.

What is the quick and easy solution to cleaning this mess up?? Should I just uninstall iTunes and reinstall it importing the music correctly this time? How do I make sure my playlists are saved so that I don't have to recreate them again? Or should I just keep my library separate on the thumbdrive and remove the music from my hard drive? Going crazy here!

Prior to having to reboot my computer in full and reinstall iTunes, I was able to use the media-specific keys on my keyboard to navigate iTunes while running other programs and windows.
Now, I cannot navigate iTunes without SPECIFICALLY having the iTunes window as my active window. In order to change songs, play, pause, skip.. ANYTHING, I must minimize my current project and pull up the iTunes window ( which would be previously minimized ) and select my action or use the media-specific keys on my keyboard.
This problem happens both in full screen-window and Mini Player mode.

I have yet to find any "topic" to help address this.
Any ideas?

I keep downloading Itunes, worked with rep and got it down. Now whenever I try to access the store it tells me that "the program I am trying to access is trying to close the window"?
