Violent Criminals Target Shiny Apple Products in Malicious Crimes

How could anyone forget the footage Macblogz released on June 20th, 2008, showing a young man being beaten on a public bus to hand over his first generation iPhone. As reported today, it appears violence over coveted Apple technology still exists and perhaps could be running rampant.

According to one report, a 62-year-old women in Annapolis, Maryland was recently hit over the head as she was unloading shopping bags into the trunk of her car at her local shopping mall, Westfield Annapolis. The crime occurred around 12:50 p.m. on Monday, the 29th of September, in a Nordstrom parking lot. What was stolen you might ask? Police say the man took a newly purchased laptop computer and case (style unknown), and a new Apple iPod Nano (color yet to be determined).

As sad as this is, there is a possible upside to the situation. Either the “older generation” is becoming more technologically savvy, or they are finally learning what their grandchildren really want for their birthday.

To add to this atrocity, another article details how the Manchester police force are currently investigating an attempted child abduction in the area. Allegedly, a 12-year-old boy was offered a free iPod to enter a stranger’s car. While the authorities are closely following the case, the two men are still on the loose, said to be armed with iPods and dangerous.

I remember how my parents warned me not to get into cars with strangers, even if they offered me candy.  These days pedophiles and perpetrators have moved up from tootsie pops and jolly ranchers to shiny new Apple devices.  How do you expect a child to resist a non-chromatic iPod? Warning to all young citizens out there:  There is a new crop of criminal lurking….And they are waiting to take advantage of your good taste and yearning for everything digital.
