We have known that both Lithuania and Latvia have been expecting the iPhone 3G for some time now, only a date had not been set. With a recent press release, mobile provider TeliaSonera has announced that both Baltic countries will be getting the device come September 26th, 2008.

Macworld points us to an announcement from mobile provider TeliSonera, that its subsidiaries will bring Apple’s coveted device to Latvia and Lithuania, on Friday September 26th. Both countries have been included in the MacBlogz iPhone worldmap, and have been marked as official. No details about hardware pricing or coverage rates is available. TeliaSonera owns a share of Latvian Mobile Telephone (LMT), and controls Omnitel as well, both massive telecommunications companies in the Baltic region. Additionally, TeliaSonera is involved with iPhone distribution in a number of other European countries, including Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark.

“This represents another strategic step for us in the development of the mobile broadband market and further strengthens our position in the Nordic and Baltic region,” said Kenneth Karlberg, president, Business Area Mobility Service, TeliaSonera. “Following the successful launch of iPhone 3G in the Nordic countries and in Estonia, we are happy to offer iPhone 3G to our customers in Latvia and Lithuania,” TeliaSonera explains.

This is part of a final “phase three,” of international iPhone expansion into 29 more countries around the world. By the end of the year, Apple is expected to be selling the iPhone 3G in 73 countries globally.
