DaringFireball claims that Apple will be releasing new notebooks on October 14th. Contrary to much speculation about yesterday’s media event and if it would pertain to notebooks, the event was focused on music, leaving many consumers wanting more.
Many rumors have been circulating about Apple’s much overdue notebook line overhaul. We’ve reported about confirmed Macbook Air like keyboards in the upcoming Macbook Pro, and a new case design from leaked supply chain photos has also been confirmed, as well as some rumors regarding a glass trackpad that were announced. The Macbook Air has also been rumored to be getting an “imminent” update. Although any attention given to the Air will surely be a speedbump (2GHz processor, increased storage), as apposed to a massive overhaul like we should expect from the rest of Apple’s notebook line.
Apple’s notebook line is widely expected to be getting an update either by the of September, or in the month of October, ahead of the important holiday shopping season. Additionally, 9to5mac reports that they have received some extremely vague information (in the form of a riddle it seems), about Apple’s upcoming notebook plans. 9to5 claims that their tipster has a very solid track record.
While we expect Apple to release a massive overhaul to their notebook line within the next two months, the only for certain piece of information that MacBlogz can endorse is the inclusion of the Macbook-Air-like keyboard in the upcoming Macbook Pro. The release of new notebooks would certainly have to be showcased through a special media event, which would give Apple CEO Steve Jobs the necessary time to explain all of the massive upgrades and changes the product line has received. The iMac has also been rumored to be getting a speedbump before the holidays. This means that we could be getting two special Apple media events within 8 weeks. The September special event has historically been used for iPod announcements, and WWDC and Macworld are both annual events that Apple uses to launch new products. With Macworld being in January, and the iPhone 3G released at this year’s WWDC, we should expect to see an Apple event in the near future.

The cryptic mention of “all about the brick” can only mean one thing. Everyone is talking MacBook update and while they need to do that when I think of Apple and Brick together I think Mac Mini. It has been ages since the Mini had an overhaul.

One web site reported that “The brick” will be a redesign of the Mac Mini making it more like the Mac Pro.
