According to Apple representatives, Apple will be releasing an update to update all existing iPod classics with the Genius Playlist option.

New from across the pond: Crave.cnet.cp.ul provided readers a glance at the new 120GB iPod Classic that was introduced at Apple’s event yesterday. Similar to the new iPod nano, the Classic will come equipped with the Genius Playlist Feature. It is being reported that older (all existing) iPod Classics will get an update that offers the Genius Feature as well.
Apple representatives at the event yesterday told us, however, that a free software upgrade will be adding the Genius feature to existing iPod classics.
Apple’s Genius Playlist offers Pandora-like features, including music recommendation programs allowing songs in your library to be automatically grouped into a themed playlist.
