Gizmodo is reporting that the new iTunes 8 is rumored to feature some absolutely amazing magnetoshpere visualizations.
iTunes 8 has been widely believed to make an appearance at next week’s “Lets Rock” event, and had been said to feature some ‘trippy’ visualizations. My first notion of this was instantly reminiscent of the lame Windows Media Player visualizations, but if the video below is anything like what we’ll be seeing in iTunes 8, then bring it on.
Just for comparison let’s take a look at this YouTube find of and old Windows Media Player music visualization. Not even Jerry Seinfeld could make these look cool.

Greetings – original author of the post here. I think the video above isn’t the Magnetosphere visualizer itself, but rather a specific project custom designed for that song by the author, Robert Hodgin. It looks quite similar though.

I can think of a few reasons why people would love this. Besides the whole “got sold to a 3rd party developer” quote is kind of speculative, sort of leads people to form their own conclusions. Such as, Apple bought it… it’s going to be in iTunes 8. etc.,.
Either way, it definitely looks nice and compared to those WMP visualizations, oh jeez. It’s in a league of its own. (as far as trippy music visualization goes)
