It is widely rumored that Apple will be holding a “Special Event” next Tuesday, September 9th. The event is said to be used as a launching pad for a slew of new iPods, a new line of overhauled notebooks, with some analysts believing we could see both.

Historically, Apple has sent out invitations to their Special Events around a week before the said date. For the SDK Event on March 6th, 2007, Apple sent out invitations on February 27th. For the Special Event held on September 12th, 2006, Apple sent out invitations on Sep 5th. On October 4th, 2005, Apple sent out invitations to an upcoming event on October 12th.
So where are the September 9th Event Invitations? Being Tuesday today, we still haven’t seen any new releases, the Apple Online Store hasn’t gone down (even for maintenance), and nobody has received official or anonymous invitations to said event on September 9th.
Let’s hope we’ll see some invitations (in one form or another), within the next few days. Because if we don’t, chances are the event is not going to happen, or has been pushed back from September 9th.

This makes me think that it’s not going to happen. Or it’s been rescheduled.
