Steve Jobs and his health concerns have been a much debated topic within the last few months. Many blogs, websites and news publications respect Steve and Apple so much, that they edit each article written about the topic with a fine-tooth-comb. Others simply go for that shocking, tactless, headline to get you to read their articles. Brian Caulfield, from Forbes.com is the latest “Journalist” to publish a puke-worthy article. But hey, at least it’s getting attention, right Brian?
In his post, which he so cleverly titled “Five Things Steve Jobs Must Do Before He Dies“, Forbes’ Caulfield seems to measure what Steve Jobs’ life is worth based on what has been released by Apple. Caulfield continues to demand things from Apple’s CEO, such as a television set and tablet pc. He starts the article by saying, “It’s Almost True,” referring to the accidental obit that Bloomberg published. I have no idea what “it’s almost true” means, is Caulfield referring to Steve almost being dead?
Caulfield gets slammed by users in the comments at Forbes.com. Below are some comments taken from the article.
1. Those are the dumbest suggestions I’ve ever seen, and proof that you have no idea how or why Apple has succeeded over the last couple of decades.
2. Article in absolutely poor taste, and inane suggestions. Reprehensible.
3. Disgusting
4. Utterly disgusting!
5. Mr. Caulfield’s ill-conceived and insensitive article exemplifies journalism at its lowest ebb.
6. seriously, is forbes really as lame as it seems these days? you guys are friggin’ hacks. get a life.
7. I THINK THAT THIS STORY IS CRASS AND INSENSITIVE. IS ALL YOU CONSIDER A MANS LIFE WORTH, WHAT HE CAN PROVIDE TO YOU NEXT. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR EXPRESSION IF THIS ARTICLE WAS ABOUT YOUR FATHER. THE MERE NOTION THAT YOU WANT PURELY MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM A MAN, ANY MAN IS A POOR REFLECTION ON YOU.
THERE IS MORE TO LIFE, AND DEATH THAN THINGS THAT MAKE YOU MONEY. YOU NEED TO EXAMINE YOUR SHALLOW BEING AND ASK YOURSELF IF THIS IS THE BEST YOU CAN DO AS A WRITER IF IT IS, THAN RETIRE AND CONTEMPLATE THE THINGS YOU WANT FROM YOUR WIFE OR CHILDREN BEFORE THEY DIE. YOU MY FRIEND ARE A STUPID AND SHALLOW HUMAN BEING
8. Caulfield you sick f*ck I hope you die or get fired. This article proves how ignorant journalists have become. This article is not only incorrect from a technical perspective but is also morally wrong. Forbes you have just sunk yourself to the level of Fox news or Bloomburg for instance with their prepackaged obituary. Jobs and Apple have made this world a much better place maybe you people at Forbes can try to do the same or at least respect what these great people have done.
Maybe next time Brian will think about his “traffic-seeking” headlines before publishing such tactless articles.
