Rumors of an Apple special event on September 9th have been around for a few weeks now, with the event being tagged as an inevitable (and historically used) launching pad for new iPods.
Previous reports regarding an upcoming Apple event in September have been somewhat “confirmed” by some, and shrugged off by others. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes the event could be a Special/Joint Event where Apple will introduce new laptops as well as new iPods.
Aside from rumors that the September 9th event will introduce iTunes 8 (Recommendation Jukebox?), iPod nanos, and overhauled notebooks are also expected by some.

“If an iPod-only event is held on September 9, the long-overdue update of Mac portables would likely be pushed back at least two weeks, if not longer. Introducing the hotly-rumored and redesigned MacBook in October would mean missing out on late-starting college students in September,” Ars reports.
“I’ve heard similar things, but it’s unconfirmed. My guess is iPods, as we had last September,” reports Brian Lam for Gizmodo.
