[Update] Apple Releases iPhone Update 2.0.2

Apple has released iPhone update 2.0.2 this afternoon. In typical Apple fashion, the update is set to deliver some “bug fixes,” while lacking any further specifics.

The update is 248.7MB in size and is available via iTunes, or directly from Apple.

Some analysts have been speculating that Apple is (or has been) working on a software update to address poor reception issues with the iPhone 3G.

No new settings, or exciting new finds have been discovered in this update (yet). And we can only hope this is a step in the right direction with 3G connectivity problems.

Update: After installing the new software update, which we did via iTunes, the 3G connectivity/reception is still just as poor as it was prior to the update. AT&T’s 3G Network is rather strong here, but we are “still” getting an average of No Bars to No Signal. Alright Apple and AT&T, Edge it is.

I saw something weird and wanted to see if anyone else had seen this or know the reason for this.

When I am at work(St.Louis), when I select Maps option on my Iphone 3g, it comes back and locates me as being in Salt Lake city UTAH. In other places at my home or any other place, it seem to be working fine and locates me correctly. Just at my work it seems to be getting lost.

I tried turning off the 3G and did the same using the old Edge network and then it works fine. It does seem like the 3G is getting some wrong data.

Any ideas?

This happens sometimes when radio-waves get crossed (I think). Does the same thing happen on Edge? Or Wi-Fi?

That happens to me as well. It says I’m in Houston, yet I live in Seattle. Very frustrating if you ask me.

Do either of you (St Louis or Houston) have offices in Salt Lake or Seattle? If your phone can’t get a GPS signal, it goes off the WiFi signals, and I’m guessing that if the network is somehow linked to those cities, that’s the problem.

Could totally be the IP addresses. Very true.
