The iPhone “kill switch” may have a bit more in store for us than originally expected. According to Stephen Colbert, we may be looking at public enemy number one.
Last week we reported about the now well known iPhone kill switch, a blacklisting mechanism that can remotely disable unauthorized applications on the device. Steve Jobs has since gone on record confirming its existence, noting that Apple would only take advantage of this when absolutely necessary.
While many of us simply couldn’t understand what the implications of this may be, fortunately we have Stephen Colbert to provide clarification. (iPhone at 5:45)
So what’s the solution? “Buy a Zune, they can’t kill you…or do anything else.” Priceless. Without Colbert’s brilliant assertions and Journalistic prowess I may have fell victim to my iPhone’s evil plans.

That bit was hilarious. And the dig on the Zune at the end was priceless.
Only Microsoft could advertise Wireless Sync as a feature for a product while requiring it to be connected to a power supply to use the feature [thus negating the 'wireless' part of the feature].

HA ! Colbert for President !!! The thing is… Everyone knew it, we were just afraid to admit it.
Thank you Steven! For making us all more aware of our dangerous surroundings !

I find that Zune’s flat shape prevents it from making a good doorstop. Apple’s curved products on the other hand… Macbook Air was the best doorstop I’ve ever used. Highly recommended.
