Following speculation by online sources that suggest Apple is preparing new models of both the iPod nano and the iPod touch, as well as reports into the company’s redesign of MacBooks and MacBook pros, Apple is now advising resellers to be prepared for product shortages in the next few months.
In recent days, Apple has issued an advisement bulletin to many of its channel partners (BestBuy?) hinting at a manufacturing ramp down of iPods and certain Mac notebook models, which will result in limited supplies of those products in the coming weeks- encouraging retailers to stock up 4 weeks worth of their top selling iPods and 3 weeks worth of orders of current Mac notebooks. Specifically, Apple outlined the 13-inch MacBooks and the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pros, making no mention of the MacBook Air.
Based on past trends and knowledge, this could only mean one thing: Apple is set to begin introducing its holiday consumer electronics and Mac offerings sometime in early to mid-September. (Well….Maybe…As many resellers who received the bulletin believe the notice is a strong indicator.) We can only hope, right?
In other words, get ready to spend that cold hard cash this holiday season.
