To add to the laundry list of issues that consumers are finding with Apple’s newest device, Engadget is reporting about an onslaught of stress fractures and cracks found in the 3G iPhone casings. MacRumors forums readers have found the casing issues.

For the most part, the cracks are mainly visible in the white 16 GB iPhone, but owners of black iPhones have reported problems as well. While the materials used in both models is identical, the white has more of a tendency to show every nick and irregularity.
The majority of said cracks are showing up near the edges of the phone and near the headphone jack. Some people have reported seeing cracks as soon as a day after receiving the device, while others saw cracks within the first one to two weeks of ownership.
Luckily, Apple is taking responsibility and replacing the defunct iPhones through their retail stores free of charge (…if you can find a store with the phone in stock.) Apple has yet to release a statement regarding the flaw and we have yet to receive reports about how widespread the issue may be.
The sad news of the cracked iPhone comes on the coat-tails of a report in USA Today likening the iPhone to that of Windows Vista (ouch!). We’ve already dealth with iPhone supply problems, a problematic activation process, overloaded activation servers during launch day, and issues with the 2.0 firmware. In the article independent analyst Rob Enderle was quoted as saying, “Clearly, Apple is having manufacturing and software problems. A star product like the iPhone does a lot of great things for Apple, but when things go wrong, it can bring down the entire image of the company.” This must explain that even though the faults of the iPhone have been outlined and tracked by national news, Apple’s brand loyalty is enough to keep the iPhone 3G flying off the shelves.
This independent analyst goes on claim to that the iPhone doesn’t “feel” finished and that it was rushed to market (a’ la Windows Vista.)
Our response to all of this: Sit back, relax, wait for an update….And get a darn case for your phone.

That’s twice you said “This independent analyst”. That makes you just another Microsoft propaganda sewer. Another phoney Mac site.
