Even as Apple continues their struggle to meet iPhone 3G demand in current markets, they have announced the ambitious goal of releasing the device to 20 more countries come August 22.

Questions from analysts rang out earlier this week at Apple’s announcement of their Q3 fiscal results, concerning the limited supplies of iPhone 3G’s. COO Tim Cook responded that the shortages had been induced by “overwhelming demand.” Kind of a no brainer there, yet he went on mention that Apple was confident enough to boost production to expand the iPhone 3G market to 20 more countries. Unfortunately, he did not reveal which of the 50 countries slated for future sales will be in the lucky 20.
Today, TechGadgets.in, has gotten word that India may very well have made the list. As of yet, it is unclear whether it will be carried first by Vodafone or Airtel.
“It is speculated to be carrying almost the same software as the ones in the US market, however some of its features will be customized to match the Indian tariffs. Initially, only the 8 GB model will be launched, rumors say.”
Additional rumors are claiming that the iPhone 3G will carry an expected price between Rs 11,500 (about $273) and 12,000 (about $285).
“Well, without the availability of the 3G network and no official announcement made, we wonder how much truth this holds.”
