Apple claims that 1,000,000 iPhone 3G’s have been sold, which is a staggering number given the heavy activation issues Apple suffered, and the limited amount of time the phone has been on the market.
Apple’s new iPhone 3G has only been available since this past Friday, July 11th. “The figure is based on data from all 21 countries in which the 3G launched on Friday, including countries like the US, Canada, Japan and England.”
“Although at least one analyst had predicted that Apple and its partners would sell a million units worldwide at launch, a survey of stores conducted by Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster put sales at less than half that many,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.
“In a report to clients issued a few hours before Apple’s announcement, Munster had estimated that Apple had sold about 450,000 iPhones worldwide and that it would take Apple at least 17 days to hit the one million mark.” WRONG !

Even though some developers have been very deceptive in getting their Apps to the top of the store’s list, it seems as though the App Store has been, and will continue to be warmly accepted by the industry.
