Apple sure knows how to attract the crazies. Like Jonny Gladwell from Auckland, New Zealand.
MacDailyNews reports that “He’s pitched his tent and stands at the head of a line (of one, so far) outside an Auckland Vodafone shop where he hopes to become the first man in the world to buy an Apple iPhone 3G.”
New Zealand will be the first place in the entire world to be selling Apple’s new handset. iPhone 3G will be launching in New Zealand at 12:01am on the morning of Friday, July 11th (5:01am PDT / 8:01am EDT / 1:01pm London time on July 10th).
So far we know of lines in New Zealand, and the first iPhone 3G line outside Apple’s Flagship Manhattan Cube. If you see a line forming, or decide to form one yourself, be sure to send in some photos.

Well, first, I would imagine SJ is probably wandering around with one, along with a fair group of other Apple VP’s. And there’s no mention in BGR’s page whether he/they actually own it, or just photographed it.

He will be the first person to LEGALLY PURCHASE it. Clarification needed. of course Steve and a slew of other execs are walking around with it. There is a distinct difference here. He is just a consumer. And the first one at that.
