“Apple has secured a building permit in Jefferson Parish to construct a $1.9 million retail store inside Lakeside Shopping Center. It will be built in the place of the former Discovery store.” Reports the New Orleans City Business website.
“Officials with Lakeside would not confirm Apple’s plans, but the shopping center’s Web site shows Apple is hiring personnel for the store.”
“Apple applied for its building permit June 23. The contractor for the project is listed as Shawmut Design and Construction of Boston, the company that has built freestanding Apple retail stores in New York and Boston. A spokeswoman from Apple would not provide projected construction start or opening dates for the Lakeside store.”
“Lakeside would be Apple’s second location in the state, joining a store near the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.”

Additional thoughts: Apple Stores are nice anyway you look at them. But a mall store can only go so far.
