This morning mobile provider O2 appears to have inadvertently published pricing for a Pay As You Go iPhone 3G plan, yet quickly retracted it.
“According to O2’s accidental site update, the 8GB iPhone will cost £300, while the 16GB version will be £360. The cost includes six months of Wi-Fi access and unlimited web browsing. After that, you’ll need to shell out an extra £10 a month to stay on the web.” via Electric Pig.
A spokesperson for O2 had released a statement to PC Pro siting that the prices were put up in error yet added “they’re possible, but not confirmed.” Not exactly a strong denial.
So if these prices were to stand true, what kind of deal are we looking at here? Well, its not bad if for some reason you are unable to get a contract with O2 and are willing to shell out a nice chunk of cash up front. You would in essence be paying a £200 premium over the low end plans and will of course need to pay for texts and calls as you make them.
