Rolling Stone magazine recently reported that democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is a loyal fan of the Apple iPod. Barack defines his musical taste as “eclectic” rotating artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Earth Wind and Fire, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z and Ludacris on his iPod throughout the campaign trail.
Just like Steve Jobs, Barack is a devoted fan of ol’ Bob Dylan, claiming Dylan has received the most airplay in the most recent months. With his favorite song being the famed Maggie’s Farm, Obama said “It speaks to me as I listen to some of the political rhetoric.” In the song, Dylan speaks of the quest to find himself, “but everybody wants you to be just like them.”
We already knew Barack Obama loves his iPhone, but with Obama’s musical taste as broad as his political appeal, how does he stand up to the Mac loving demographic? Obama’s campaign has confirmed they use Sproutit Mailroom (a Mac application) to manage Obama’s presidential campaign, and his wife was recently seen purchasing 2 Macbooks for video chats between Barack and the children while he is away. Could it be? Could Barack Obama be a closet Mac fan, waiting to convert the entire White House (and the world for that matter) to Mac only platforms? Only time will tell. But if one could be judged by what music and content can be found on their iPod, what would Barack’s say about him? And for that matter, what would yours say about you?
