The Washington Post reports that Apple and AT&T have both agreed to license out Klausner Technology Inc.’s patent on “visual voicemail” technology and have settled the on-going lawsuit held against them. The patented technology sends a visual alert to a computer or mobile phone when a user has a voice message.
Back in January of 2008, “Klausner Technologies filed a patent lawsuit against Apple, Inc. on the iPhone alleging that the company had infringed on their patents covering visual voicemail. The patent trolling company estimates that Apple owes them about $360 million in damages and future royalties.” via Through the Magnifying Glass.
The company has already come to license agreements with Time Warner’s AOL Voicemail services and Vonage, surrounding the same patent infringements, and are currently communicating with Comcast Corp and Cablevision Systems Corp about using the technology.
