Although I’m being told not to say anything, I can’t help myself.
Last night we initiated a major server migration. I’m happy to say that we experienced ZERO back-end downtime! The only hiccup we ran into was a simple CSS error. Which was fixed in 15 minutes by Genius Tom.
MacBlogz.com has only been live for a single month, but our traffic was above expectations for our first month. We poured our hearts, blood, sweat and tears into this site and we love it more and more everyday. Getting the wonderful reader feedback that we’ve gotten in such a short amount of time is truly humbling.
A few days into initial development on MacBlogz, a key decision was made… “Top priority is making sure MacBlogz.com never suffers from traffic issues, and turns into another horrifyingly sluggish site.” This means staying well ahead of your server capacity by projecting future traffic numbers, or just spending a lot of money you don’t have on big servers because you’re obsessed with responsiveness, like we are….and did.
We’ve narrowed down a lot of feature requests to three specific new features to implement. We completely agree with the enhanced usability these features will bring, and think everyone will love them as well. We are very close to completing development on the first new feature to MacBlogz.com (which happens to be the most dynamic). We have a few staging sites that are used to try out new features with, that’s why you’ll (hopefully) never see interruption to the site. But rest assured, we haven’t stopped working on additions and enhancements to MacBlogz for one second.
Stay tuned! We’re working really hard to get everything cleaned up and obsessively perfect. I’ll drop a little hint about the new feature that’s coming…….Nav.
P.S – If you guess what the new feature is in the comments below, we’ll let you personally see it first in a test build.
