While I am certainly pleased with all of the major upgrades that the next-gen iPhone has received, there are still quite a bit of features that were not addressed. Many users had voiced their opinions on what they would like to see in the 2.0 rollout, yet much of the core functionality that users had requested has been overshadowed by the glitz and glamor of 3G and a true GPS. Let me take a moment to sound off a few of these features.
• Cut and Paste. This would not seem to be a major upgrade but would certainly come in handy on numerous occasions.
• Flash Support. While much of the web still relies on Flash, this feature would seem to be desperately needed.
• Better Camera. At 2MP, the iPhones camera remains rather archaic in the overall scope of things. Even a minor upgrade would be well received by a lot of people.
• Video Recording. Numerous other mobile devices have it. Why not Apple?
• More Storage. Where’s the 32GB model?
• MMS. Where’s the picture messaging?
• Universal Landscape Keyboard. Got big fingers or long nails? This could make typing a bit easier.
These are just a few of some of the features that many people had been hoping for. If you have any other ones please share them with us.

A2DP Bluetooth support [for stereo audio over Bluetooth]. To eliminate the tether between the iPhone and my ears when I listen to music. It’s stupid that Apple still only supports mono-Bluetooth audio.

Do you think it is possible to update the iPhone 2 software, so that one can get the Video Recording?….. any one know the answer?

Actually Ashoka, check this out. http://monsterandfriends.com/iphonevideo
It was developed for the current iPhone OS, but it shows that this feature is definitely a possibility within the hardware/software.

A 2 megapixel camera is plenty for a phone. I would like to see some improvement in the QUALITY, but not the size.

I agree with the Author. Why weren’t these obvious gaps in iphone features addressed first? Hopefully 3rd party developers will come up with a solution. My biggest grip is lack of SMS forwarding, cut & paste and MMS. Video recording seems easy and obvious as well. Hopefully these features will show up in the app store. Its irrating tho that Apple leaves out these most basic features. Why hasn’t any journalist asked Steve/Apple about this stuff?

How about voice calling? I used to own a Motorola phone that had voice activated calling which I loved. It was hands free dialing, saying either the number or a persons name. If multiple matches occurred, it would prompt you to select through the list. I loved it. The iPhone still doesn’t have such. This would be a biggy in my book. While driving and using a headset, voice calling is a natural.

Teaman !!! I’m with you on this one. I would love this. Although it seems rather archaic, I would love this.
