[video] iPhone 3G Maps using real GPS. Looks absolutely stunning.

Almost everyone has heard about the recent addition of GPS to Apple’s new iPhone 3G. However, many of you may not have actually seen iPhone 3G’s new Maps application in action. This video is an example taken from Apple’s website. The new Maps application looks amazing, and the snazzy new interface features make us want this even more. I’ve been in countless situations where real GPS would’ve made my life much easier. Living in Portland there’s always a bridge under construction or a better way to get where you’re going. I’ve been using the Wi-Fi triangulation that powers the Maps application on the current model iPhone, and without ranting…. there’s a lot of room for improvement. Keep your eyes open towards the end of this video, it gets into “turn-by-turn” GPS assistance.

From Apple’s site: Find your location, get directions, and see traffic — all from your phone. Maps on iPhone 3G combines GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell tower location technology with the Multi-Touch interface to create the best mobile map application ever.
