Apple’s .Mac to be re-vamped. May finally be worth paying for.

The community is buzzing today over the possibility that Apple may be re-vamping it’s online .Mac service. In our opinion, this would make the .Mac service from Apple finally worth paying for. Almost all of our neighboring sites are reporting today, that Apple will soon be re-vamping it’s web-based .Mac service.

The picture above, which was acquired from Engadget, is a snippet of code from iCal. As you can see, that iCal code snippet above replaces “.Mac” with the “%@” variable which Apple can fill-in later with any name it chooses. And, there’s always the subtle line that reads, “the new name of Apple’s online service (was .Mac).”

Speculation is buzzing around the new name of Apple’s .Mac service, with some sites announcing the new name as “Mobile Me”.

There have been previous rumors swirling around that Apple may call upon Google’s help in order to re-vamp the online .Mac service. This makes sense to us seeing as how Google is THE internet behemoth and may possibly have great input, as well as the actual man/developer power to get massive elements of the new service up and running.

At last year’s All Things Digital conference, technology columnist for the Wall Street Journal Walt Mossberg asked Steve Jobs about the .Mac services downfalls. Steve replied “I couldn’t agree with you more and we will make up for lost time in the very near future.”
