Reuters reports that the Mexican based mobile provider, controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim, announced today that it plans to sell the next-gen iPhone across Latin America this year. Being the largest mobile carrier in Latin America, with a subscriber base of over 159 million, America Movil holds operations in over 16 countries, including the Caribbean and the U.S..
Unfortunately no word has been given as to the carrier’s exclusivity in the deal, nor were any financial statements made surrounding it. Yet, Tuesday’s announcement of a dual carrier deal for the Italian market, shared by both Vodafone and Telecom Italia, leaves many questions unanswered, as Apple’s initial single carrier barrier seems to be breaking down.
